Job Summary

The primary role is to process teller transactions efficiently and accurately, ensuring prompt, courteous service to clients while adhering to operational, compliance, and risk protocols.


Key Responsibilities

Cash Handling & Transaction Processing

  • Accurately process cash and other financial instruments (e.g., cheques, drafts, traveller’s cheques) over the counter
  • Balance and manage daily cash float; request replenishment or return when thresholds are reached
  • Ensure accurate counting of cash using prescribed equipment
  • Reconcile cash at the start and end of each day, including during restocking
  • Process and verify cheque deposits, withdrawals, and account-related transactions in line with bank policy
  • Maintain accurate transaction records and ensure timely submission for audit and review

Customer Service Excellence

  • Provide guidance on completing transaction documentation (deposits, withdrawals, etc.)
  • Address client queries, ensuring resolutions before escalating
  • Educate clients on service options, including self-service and digital platforms
  • Maintain a professional appearance and comply with corporate dress code
  • Keep the workstation neat, organized, and fully stocked

Sales & Client Education

  • Identify and act on cross-selling opportunities using teller prompts
  • Guide customers on current campaigns and refer them to Sales Consultants
  • Capture sales leads and track follow-ups via the Sales Management Dashboard (SMD)
  • Promote bank products and digital channels to improve client experience

Compliance, Risk & Operational Controls

  • Adhere strictly to banking procedures, security protocols, and regulatory compliance
  • Open and close the branch safe according to procedure
  • Conduct visual and physical checks of cash and security items as assigned
  • Report any fraudulent, suspicious, or non-compliant activities immediately
  • Maintain registers for teller activities and security assets (keys, stamps, cards)
  • Lock all cash drawers and teller cubicles when unattended
  • Stay updated on policy changes, fraud prevention measures, and teller best practices

Minimum Requirements

  • Education:
    Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC) in Business, Commerce, or Management Studies (Required)
