Job Title: Storeman – Food & Beverage
Job Purpose
We are seeking a Storeman to manage and record the movement of food and beverage stock between storage and operational outlets. This role ensures that inventory levels meet operational needs while adhering to company standards and health regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Stock Transfers
- Receive deliveries and verify them against invoices and quality specifications.
- Record discrepancies such as incorrect quantities, pricing issues, and returns; report these to the Stock Controller.
- Retrieve and fulfill picking lists following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Monitor and log cold storage temperatures at set intervals; report any anomalies.
- Ensure accurate and authorized stock movements, applying FIFO (First-In, First-Out) practices.
- Inspect stock before dispatching from the warehouse.
- Seal trolleys leaving the storeroom and log seal numbers on both copies of issue requests.
- Store items per safety and hygiene regulations and maintain cleanliness of storage areas and equipment.
- Submit all relevant documentation to the Stock Controller for system capturing (IFS).
- Review and reconcile slips from hospitality outlets (e.g., rooms, food & beverage) to ensure consistency between Micros and IFS systems at month-end.
- Address and escalate outlet or Shared Services stock-related queries when needed.
- Promptly investigate and resolve any stock discrepancies.
Stock Control
- Participate in monthly stock counts and follow-up recounts.
- Identify and resolve any variances.
- Compile overage/shortage reports for the Shared Services Centre.
- Maintain optimal stock levels according to operational demands.
- Keep organized records of all stock control activities.
- Report obsolete or expired stock for disposal.
- Work shifts aligned with operational requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Matric (Grade 12) with a strong numeracy background.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in food & beverage stores or inventory control.
- Experience using IFS (ERP system) is advantageous.
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong checking and verification skills.
- Comfortable working with data, compliance standards, and administrative processes.
- Analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Sound knowledge of stock systems and inventory best practices.
