Full Job Description
Position: Assembly Operator – Initiating Systems
Department: SF2 Plant
We are seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented individual to join our team at the SF2 Plant, where you will be responsible for assembling a variety of initiating system products.
Key Responsibilities
Product Assembly
- Assemble initiating system components including shocktube assemblies, surface assemblies, electronic assemblies, and export detonators
- Perform tasks such as:
- Detonator platting and insertion of rubber sleeves into non-propagating blocks
- Tagging, printing, and sealing of Cobra Clips and packaging
- Supplying raw materials and operating coiling machines
- Operating electronic and 3G Clip machines
- Soldering NETSHOCK, DIGISHOT, HOTSHOT, and SMARTSHOT wires to EIU assemblies
- Utilizing the Long Length Coiler to meet production goals
- Operating ultrasonic sealing equipment and assembling complete initiating system units
Safety, Health, and Environmental Compliance
- Follow all plant-specific SHE procedures, adhering strictly to health, safety, and environmental guidelines throughout the assembly process
Quality Assurance
- Maintain a high standard of quality during assembly operations in line with defined quality parameters and objectives
Equipment Maintenance
- Perform routine decontamination and cleaning procedures on assembly machinery as part of regular upkeep
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of Grade 12 (Matric) or N3 qualification, preferably with technical subjects
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or production environment
- Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn new machinery and processes
