Housekeeper (General Assistant)

Job Title: Housekeeper (Stay-In)
Location: Governor’s Residence – South African Reserve Bank (SARB)

Brief Overview:
The primary purpose of this role is to perform general stay-in housekeeping duties at the Governor’s residence of the South African Reserve Bank.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and manage your tasks to ensure work is completed within deadlines and according to set quality standards.
  • Perform regular housekeeping duties such as cleaning, laundry, completing inventory checklists, restocking supplies, and escalating any areas of concern.
  • Prepare and serve meals and beverages for residents and guests.
  • Place timely orders for food ingredients and cleaning supplies.
  • Uphold professional courtesy when interacting with visitors, maintaining a service-oriented approach.
  • Foster positive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Recognize how your work contributes to the broader service goals at the Governor’s residence.
  • Embrace change and proactively seek ways to improve your work practices.

Requirements:

Education:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification.

Experience:

  • At least 1 year of experience in the hospitality industry, with a focus on executive housekeeping.

Additional Competencies:

  • Knowledge of food hygiene practices.
  • Skills in household chore planning and execution.
  • Understanding of general health and safety practices.
  • Competence in:
    • Food and beverage preparation and service;
    • Handling hospitality tools, utensils, and equipment;
    • Event management and inventory control.
  • Problem-solving abilities.
  • Proper etiquette in food and beverage service.
  • Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
