Location: Vorna Valley, Midrand, Gauteng

Job Overview

We are seeking a reliable and customer-focused General Assistant to join our retail team. In this role, you will be essential in ensuring a welcoming and efficient shopping experience for our customers. Your duties will include assisting customers, maintaining store cleanliness and organization, handling transactions, and supporting daily operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome customers warmly, assist with inquiries, and provide product information
  • Guide customers on product usage and help with purchasing decisions
  • Promote store specials and encourage customer engagement with current promotions
  • Process cash and card payments accurately, issue receipts, handle exchanges and refunds
  • Receive and unpack deliveries, organize stock, and monitor inventory levels
  • Replenish shelves and fridges efficiently to keep stock levels optimal
  • Dispose of store and storeroom waste properly and maintain general cleanliness
  • Support stock take processes and inventory checks
  • Ensure all safety, security, and environmental procedures are followed
  • Clean designated areas such as the storeroom and kitchen

Requirements

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Previous experience in roles such as General Assistant, General Worker, or General Clerk
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Clear criminal record
  • Must reside within 25 km of the job location

Preferred but Not Mandatory

  • South African citizenship
  • Prior experience using a cash register or Point-of-Sale (POS) system
  • Experience in a customer-facing environment
  • Familiarity with stock taking and shelf management
  • Attention to detail with pricing and stock labeling
