Purpose of the Role
To provide safe, efficient, and reliable transport services for staff, especially during non-standard hours. The role includes maintaining vehicle safety, adhering to schedules, and ensuring compliance with road safety laws.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate weekly driving schedules with the Managing Editor
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and maintain legal compliance
- Ensure punctual pick-up and drop-off of staff
- Remain flexible and responsive to last-minute schedule changes
- Follow optimal routes based on efficiency and safety
- Log and report vehicle issues and scheduling concerns
Minimum Requirements
- Valid driver’s license (Code B or higher)
- Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP) for passenger transport
- 2–3 years of professional driving experience
Preferred:
- Advanced driving course
Additional Requirements:
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays
- In-depth knowledge of Gauteng routes and safety hotspots
- Ability to manage rest effectively to avoid fatigue
- Strong sense of responsibility and work ethic
- Clear verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be consistently sober, alert, and professional
- Calm under pressure and adaptable to dynamic situations
- Team-oriented with proactive problem-solving skills
