Job Overview
The Malaria Research Group (MRG) is committed to supporting the National Department of Health’s Malaria Elimination Strategy. Aligned with national objectives, MRG is seeking a skilled and experienced driver who resides in the uMkhanyakude District of northern KwaZulu-Natal and has a background in research fieldwork.
The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting the research team, equipment, and biological samples. This role is based in uMkhanyakude and will involve working closely with the research team to support day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport research staff to various locations
- Deliver study equipment and supplies
- Assist with administrative duties related to the project
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as required by the SAMRC
- Maintain accurate records and assist with reporting tasks
Contract Details
- Duration: 12 months (1-year contract)
- Compensation: R245,170 per annum (Cost-to-Company)
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 certificate (NQF Level 4) or higher
- At least 3 years of driving experience
- Proficient in English and isiZulu
- Valid Code 8 Driver’s License
- Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP)
- Must be familiar with road networks and driving conditions in uMkhanyakude
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- Previous experience working on community-based research projects
- Experience in transporting staff and goods over long distances
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Good organizational and administrative abilities (record keeping and reporting)
