Position Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Driver to provide student transport services to and from school, as well as to extracurricular events and field trips. The driver will also be responsible for running school-related errands and supporting operational tasks such as maintenance or gardening when required. Building positive relationships with students and ensuring adherence to safety and school protocols are key aspects of this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform pre-trip vehicle inspections and complete the daily bus log
- Transport students safely between home and school
- Ensure drop-offs and pick-ups occur only at authorized stops
- Drive students to field trips, sports fixtures, and other off-site school events
- Assist with additional school errands or support tasks as needed
- Maintain a clean and well-functioning vehicle and report any mechanical issues
- Ensure all students are wearing seatbelts and following safety procedures
- Represent the school positively and professionally, including wearing the school-issued uniform
- Work overtime when necessary
Requirements:
- Matric certificate
- Valid Code 10 driver’s license
- Valid Public Driving Permit (PDP)
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, and speaking)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience driving a bus, preferably a school bus
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with students, staff, and parents
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively
- A proactive, team-oriented approach with a positive attitude
