Total Estimated Package: R465,816 – R634,560 per annum
Purpose of the Role:
The Artisan Electrician will be responsible for carrying out specialised electrical operations, including:
- Auditing high, medium, and low-power electricity meters
- Identifying and removing illegal electrical connections
- Installing electricity meters
- Disconnecting and removing prepaid meters and circuit breakers as part of revenue protection measures
- Performing credit control and metering tasks
- Joining and wiring low- and medium-voltage cables and meter boxes
- Working on both overhead and underground electrical networks
- Inspecting metering points and illegal connections across the city
- Ensuring full compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 (Act 85 of 1993)
Minimum Requirements:
- Trade Certificate (Red Seal) as an Electrician
- Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in municipal or local authority electrical networks
- Valid Code C1 Driver’s License with a valid PrDP
- Medically fit and able to perform physically demanding tasks
- Must be willing to undergo a criminal background check and allow fingerprinting by the Tshwane Metro Police (at own cost)
- Availability to work shifts, standby, and overtime when required

- Execute specialised electrical tasks
- Conduct audits of electricity meters

- Work on low and medium-voltage electrical systems
- Wire meter boxes and busbars
- Conduct inspections citywide for unauthorised connections
- Strictly adhere to all health and safety regulations
