Admin and Underwriting Assistant

Introduction

A reputable and expanding multinational Financial Services firm operating within the insurance sector is looking to appoint an Admin & Underwriting Assistant to join their dynamic team. This role involves a range of administrative and underwriting support functions including data capturing, client onboarding, policy lifecycle management (from activation to cancellation), and reporting. The position offers excellent growth potential and a clear path toward a long-term career in the industry.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and timely data capturing and product activation, verifying completeness and correctness of all information, and sourcing any missing details within specified deadlines
  • Compile and dispatch comprehensive Welcome Packs for clients, outlining policy details and managing the process from activation to final reporting
  • Generate and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required
  • Follow up with clients to ensure timely and correct submission of data
  • Maintain effective communication and coordination with clients and internal stakeholders
  • Meet performance standards and deadlines consistently
  • Perform ad hoc duties as needed, including reception relief

Qualifications & Experience

  • Matric (Grade 12) and RE5 (Regulatory Exam) are minimum requirements
  • Experience using Excel and insurance management systems (particularly in short-term insurance) is highly advantageous
  • Insurance-related qualifications or training will be beneficial
  • Must be willing to work overtime when necessary to meet deadlines
  • Successful candidates will need to consent to a full background verification including education, employment, credit, criminal, and legal right-to-work checks

Reporting Line:

Reports directly to the Underwriting Manager


Package & Remuneration

  • Working Hours: 08:30 – 17:00
  • Leave: 15 days of annual leave per year
  • Benefits: Retirement Annuity and Medical Aid (upon permanent employment)
  • Contract: Initial 3-month contract with potential to become permanent based on performance
  • Salary: R14,000 – R17,000 (Cost to Company, negotiable based on experience and qualifications)

Note: This is a full-time, on-site position. Remote or hybrid work options are not available.
