Full Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced driver to operate heavy-duty and other company vehicles in accordance with safety protocols and operational guidelines set by the supervisor.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
- Valid EC1 (Code 10) driver’s license and the ability to pass Rand Water’s K53 driving test
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience driving heavy vehicles
- Experience operating a truck-mounted crane
- Must hold a valid Public Driver’s Permit (PDP)
Key Responsibilities:
- Transport equipment and materials as required
- Assist with loading and unloading garden and household waste on a daily or weekly basis
- Conduct vehicle inspections and ensure vehicles are clean
- Report all incidents, defects, and vehicle issues to the supervisor
- Ensure safe loading, unloading, securing, and stacking of materials
Knowledge Required:
- Safe work practices and procedures
- Proper material loading and balance techniques
- Job planning and route management
Skills:
- Proficient in operating heavy-duty vehicles
- Skilled in using truck-mounted cranes
- Strong communication skills
- Professional and courteous when interacting with the public
