Job Overview
We’re looking for a dedicated and friendly General Assistant to join our Fruit and Veg team. In this role, you will play an important part in delivering excellent customer service, helping shoppers find products, maintaining a clean and organized store, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist customers with product selection and provide accurate product information
- Greet customers warmly and offer helpful, friendly service
- Respond to customer inquiries and resolve any issues to ensure satisfaction
- Inform customers about promotions and special offers
- Operate cash registers, process card and cash transactions, issue receipts, and handle refunds and exchanges
- Receive and unpack deliveries, replenish shelves, and keep stock organized
- Restock items promptly when they run low or sell out
- Dispose of store and storeroom waste appropriately
- Assist with stock counts and inventory management
- Maintain cleanliness in assigned areas, including storeroom and kitchen
- Follow all safety, health, environmental, and emergency procedures
Requirements
- Matric Certificate
- Prior experience as a General Assistant, General Worker, or General Clerk
- Proficiency in English
- Must live within 25km of the store location
- Clear criminal record
Preferred Criteria (Not Essential)
- South African citizenship
- Between 18 and 65 years of age
