Administrator (Bursaries)

Location: Johannesburg, Gauteng
Position: General Administrative Services

Overview

This role supports the efficient functioning of the business unit through a range of administrative tasks. The successful candidate will handle internal and external queries, manage meeting logistics, maintain records, process bursary applications, and assist with reporting obligations.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative Support

  • Ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the unit.
  • Handle enquiries from both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records in line with company policies and procedures.
  • Take and compile minutes for meetings, and assist in preparing agendas.
  • Communicate meeting changes promptly to relevant parties.
  • Independently manage meeting logistics and follow up on action items.
  • Arrange travel and accommodation as required.
  • Distribute important updates and information to stakeholders.
  • Capture data as required by the unit.

Bursary Administration

  • Manage and maintain student records and databases with a focus on data accuracy.
  • Process bursary applications in accordance with internal requirements.
  • Assist in budget tracking and student reimbursements.
  • Verify student documentation and liaise with educational institutions regarding student accounts and results.
  • Address and escalate student-related administrative and financial queries.
  • Monitor and follow up on bursars’ academic progress.

Reporting and Compliance

  • Assist in compiling reports for statutory bodies to ensure the unit’s compliance with regulatory obligations.
  • Collate and archive relevant indicators for POP (Programme of Performance) within the unit.
  • Track survey responses and ensure accurate and timely report submission in the correct format.

Support for Unit Optimization

  • Provide routine administrative support for the execution of the unit’s work plans.
  • Support efforts to streamline and enhance unit operations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum: National Senior Certificate (NQF Level 4).
  • Required: National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Administration, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of relevant administrative experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
