Company Overview
Our client is a well-established leader in the processing, importing, and exporting of seafood products. They are currently seeking a Code 10 Truck Driver to join their team at their depot in Philippi. The successful candidate will be responsible for the secure transportation, loading, and offloading of goods, ensuring adherence to all Food Safety and Quality Standards at all times.
Note: Experience operating cold store trucks will be advantageous.
Only candidates residing in the greater Cape Town area will be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct vehicle inspections to identify any mechanical issues and ensure roadworthiness
- Operate the truck safely and comply with all road safety regulations
- Safeguard goods in transit and ensure correct handling during loading and offloading
- Follow assigned delivery routes and maintain scheduled delivery times
- Accurately complete and manage delivery notes and invoices
- Comply with customer/supplier site requirements during deliveries
- Strictly adhere to Food Safety and Quality procedures
- Manually assist with loading and offloading where necessary
- Immediately report any issues or potential delays to the line manager
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Fluent in English (Afrikaans is advantageous)
- High level of honesty, reliability, and integrity
- Strong attention to detail
- Problem-solving ability and adaptability to change
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Flexible and responsive to varying work demands
- Familiarity with delivery routes in Cape Town and surrounding areas
Qualifications and Experience:
- Matric or equivalent
- Valid Code 10 Driver’s License with no endorsements
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience operating a Code 10 truck
- Previous experience with cold store vehicles is a plus
