Position Overview
Mercedes-Benz Bryanston has a vacancy for a Service Advisor, reporting to the Service Manager. This position is ideal for an individual committed to maintaining exceptional customer service standards and ensuring a smooth workflow within the service department. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, and capable of handling high-pressure environments while delivering an outstanding customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
Service Coordination:
- Manage workflow between service advisors, foreman, technicians, and customers
- Provide timely updates to customers regarding service bookings and progress
- Ensure vehicles are secured in the workshop and keys are stored in a key safe
- Oversee the opening and closing of the workshop daily
- Ensure vehicles are ready for the day—parked and secured each morning
- Assist technicians with quotations and communicate efficiently with all service staff
- Monitor parts ordered for workshop use, ensuring a 5-day turnaround in line with MBSA standards
- Conduct test drives for vehicles with specific complaints alongside the Foreman or Quality Controller where necessary
- Ensure all vehicles undergo test driving before customer collection
Customer Service:
- Deliver consistent, high-quality customer service
- Accurately diagnose issues based on customer descriptions
- Manage pre-costing and invoicing before vehicle collection
- Provide continuous progress updates and manage delays effectively
- Handle customer queries and complaints promptly
Administrative Duties:
- Plan daily service activities effectively
- Pre-write job cards accurately
- Record all non-warranty claims
- Monitor and manage Work In Progress (WIP)
- Control and follow up on outstanding payments
Qualifications & Experience
- Matric / Grade 12 (essential)
- Computer literacy (experience with Kerridge preferred)
- 2–3 years’ experience in a similar role within the motor industry
- Mercedes-Benz Certified Service Advisor (advantageous)
- Solid understanding of dealership service operations
