We invite applications from qualified candidates to fill the role of General Worker: Potato Field Inspection at the McCain Delmas site in Mpumalanga. The successful candidate will be accountable to the Team Leader.
JOB PURPOSE:
The primary responsibility is to conduct daily inspections of a potato field for approximately 8 weeks, identifying and removing unhealthy and mixed plants and weeds. The removed plants and tubers will be discarded at the field’s end. Additionally, during harvesting and planting, the worker will assist in seed store activities, including receiving, grading, bagging, and other general tasks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct field walks to identify and remove unhealthy plants along with their tubers.
- Provide feedback on the removed items during the field inspections.
- During the off-season, contribute to bagging and grading activities in Seed Stores.
- Assist with general tasks as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience working with potato seed.
- Proficient in reading and writing.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong team player.
- Ability to walk long distances.
- Visual ability to distinguish between healthy and unhealthy plants.
