Introduction
Phakisa Holding is seeking Code 14 Drivers for positions in the Alberton and Meyerton areas.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate a Lowbed Truck: Safely transport heavy equipment, machinery, and oversized loads to designated locations.
- Conduct Inspections: Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the Lowbed Truck and its load to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with safety regulations.
- Secure Cargo: Properly use straps, chains, and covers to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
- Plan Routes: Effectively plan routes to ensure timely delivery of goods, considering traffic and weather conditions.
- Communicate: Maintain effective communication with dispatchers, clients, and site personnel regarding load details, schedules, and any delays or issues.
- Adhere to Regulations: Follow all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies to uphold a high standard of safety and professionalism.
- Maintain Records: Keep accurate records of vehicle inspections, mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents or maintenance issues.
- Perform Maintenance: Carry out basic maintenance tasks on the Lowbed Truck and promptly report any mechanical problems.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Driver’s License: Valid Code 14 driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Experience: Proven experience operating a Lowbed Truck or similar heavy equipment transport vehicle.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with securing and transporting oversized loads safely and legally.
- Navigation Skills: Ability to read and interpret maps, GPS systems, and route directions.
- Communication: Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Education: Grade 12/Matric.
Package & Remuneration
- Compensation: R72.79 per hour
