Freight Account Manager

We are seeking candidates from the freight/shipping sector for a role located in the Northern Suburbs. Please find details below:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12
  • Degree in Supply Chain/International Trade/Logistics or a related field
  • Over 2 years of experience in Logistics/Freight Forwarding
  • Previous experience in the Fruit/Perishables/Freight industry

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducting online container bookings on shipping line websites
  • Generating/sending out Q67s for confirmed orders
  • Pre-advising containers on Navis before reaching the port
  • Supervising the entire loading/shipping process from cold store to vessel loading
  • Addressing logistical chain issues, such as arranging early/late arrivals, managing delays, coordinating with depots/cold stores for reefer containers, and arranging CODs and additional free days
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with cold stores, shipping lines, empty depots, and transporters
  • Efficiently receiving and registering client bookings
  • Selecting the most suitable service based on booking credentials and customer requirements
  • Determining the protocol and handling requirements of consignments
  • Ensuring compliance with regulations and product profiles
  • Preparing export documents within the required timeframe and as per customer requirements
  • Identifying appropriate land, sea, and air transportation methods
  • Completing the booking process with relevant stakeholders, such as shipping lines and loading points
  • Facilitating all aspects required for effective shipment
  • Recording and maintaining data in accordance with company SOP
  • Ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures
  • Managing communication with operational export authorities and stakeholders
  • Relationship management, both externally with clients and internally to promote an efficient interface across departments
  • Communicating with management to resolve customer queries in a timely manner
  • Regularly reviewing customer requirements and liaising with the Head of Department accordingly
