Job Title: AHF Program Vehicle Driver

Job Summary:

The primary responsibility of this role is to operate AHF vehicles ensuring they are in optimal condition to deliver services as required. This entails coordinating all transport activities and supporting day-to-day logistical needs of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safety standards are upheld during transportation of staff, drugs, and laboratory specimens (where necessary).
  • Provide timely transportation for administrative offices, roving teams, clinics, and programs as needed.
  • Coordinate vehicle schedules in collaboration with relevant staff to accommodate transportation needs.
  • Facilitate pickup, delivery, and transport of documents, quotes, invoices, financial reports, and logistical requirements for AHF programs.
  • Transport AHF guests to/from the airport or other departure points as required.
  • Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks, recording mileage and fuel consumption/costs while minimizing fuel expenses and ensuring authorized personnel operate vehicles.
  • Monitor vehicle registration status and coordinate renewal processes with the Operations Manager.
  • Maintain cleanliness and mechanical upkeep of vehicles, reporting any issues promptly to the Operations Manager for resolution.
  • Ensure vehicles are serviced on time and adequately fueled for journeys, providing fuel invoices for monthly reconciliation.
  • Secure vehicles from loss or damage and adhere to AHF fleet policies, including prohibitions on driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and smoking in vehicles.
  • Follow organizational procedures to prevent vehicle theft and comply with South African driving regulations.
  • Take personal responsibility for any traffic violations and fines incurred while driving AHF vehicles.
  • Assist with stock processes and distribution of program commodities when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Skills and Abilities:

  • Fluency in English
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Effective communication with difficult clients

Education and Experience:

  • Matriculation (Logistics and procurement diploma preferred)
  • One to three months of related driving and road safety training or equivalent experience
  • Minimum two years of uninterrupted driving employment
  • Valid code 10 driver’s license held consecutively for at least five years
  • Preferably holds a PDP

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and understand simple instructions and correspondence
  • Basic writing skills
