DRIVER (Counsellor)

The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring safe and courteous driving of the mobile unit, prioritizing safety. The role involves mobilizing and providing HIV counseling and testing services to community clients, facilitating linkage to care.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Transport and Logistics:

  • Safely manage the mobile clinic or work vehicle, including loading and unloading field equipment.
  • Maintain fuel, mileage, and maintenance records as instructed.
  • Adhere to road rules, Anova’s vehicle policy, and safety requirements.
  • Submit weekly vehicle inspection checklists and report incidents promptly.

Outreach Support Work:

  • Provide integrated client-centered HIV testing services (HTS) with support.
  • Conduct HTS as per national guidelines, ensuring proper navigation of HIV-positive clients to facilities.
  • Facilitate initiation of ART for newly diagnosed positive clients.
  • Ensure compliance with HTS, waste management, and infection control guidelines.
  • Encourage marginalized groups to seek healthcare, including HCT and STI screenings.
  • Manage and store HTS supplies correctly in the field.

Administration Support Work:

  • Accurately complete and submit clients’ data daily.
  • Maintain record-keeping in the Department of Health HTS register.
  • Report high-quality HTS data daily and address data queries promptly.
  • Monitor HTS data to ensure targets are met.
  • Perform delegated administration tasks as required.

Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Grade 12.
  • Relevant heavy-duty driver’s license and Professional Driver’s Permit.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Counsellor Driver.
  • Training in basic HAST, HIV counseling, and adherence counseling.
  • Knowledge of Department of Health (DoH) and HTS guidelines and protocol.
  • Technical knowledge in HIV/AIDS prevention and understanding of PWID community issues.
  • Computer skills.
