Introduction
As a Driver-Code 14, your primary responsibility is to manage your assigned load and vehicle on designated routes, ensuring the products are delivered without damage.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform daily vehicle inspections and report any faults or serious mechanical issues to the appropriate personnel
- Complete vehicle inspection sheets and refuel vehicles as needed
- Maintain responsibility for the vehicle
- Load and unload various food products, including pallets
- Keep the truck and associated equipment clean and in good working order
- Adhere to the Road Traffic Act and ensure the safety of other road users
- Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, company policies, and road regulations
- Ensure correct loading of vehicles and verify documentation against the loads
- Deliver the correct quantities and loads
- Obtain signed proof of delivery (POD) documents
- Navigate effectively around Gauteng and surrounding areas
- Maintain the company vehicle in good condition and ensure good housekeeping
Desired Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum education: Grade 12 certificate
- 5-10 years of driving experience, preferably with Scania, Mercedes-Benz, and MAN vehicles
- Valid, unendorsed Code 14 driver’s license with a valid PrDP (Professional Driving Permit)
- Clean driving record
- Clean criminal record
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Good reading and writing skills
- Must be medically fit
- Hands-on and practical approach to the job
