Job Purpose

Bidvest International Logistics seeks a skilled Storeman Operator/MHE Operator with an F5/F3/F2 license. This role involves cargo handling, operational, administrative, and system functions, encompassing a variety of warehouse activities and general operational duties.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Matric/Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • 2+ years experience in cargo handling.
  • 2+ years experience with operational administration procedures.
  • Proficiency with computers and scanners (CargoWise and SAP experience preferred).
  • 3+ years experience in warehousing.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Activities:

  • Conduct cycle counts to ensure stock accuracy.
  • Count all areas under BIL control according to SLA and KPI requirements.
  • Confirm daily stock receipts and binning in WMS systems accurately.
  • Perform quality checks on daily receipts to ensure correctness before binning.
  • Expedite urgent materials to bins to ensure availability for production.
  • Inspect counted cargo for damages and report if necessary.
  • Use handheld scanners to bin cargo, ensuring labels match the actual materials received.
  • Review the daily exception report to confirm all planned receipts were binned.
  • Correct mistakes and inform the receiving team as needed.
  • Secure cargo with strapping and shrink-wrapping for safe storage.
  • Operate reach trucks and forklifts safely as required.
  • Handle client stock with reasonable care.
  • Complete all scheduled daily tasks before leaving.
  • Ensure all generated documents match the receipted loads.
  • Perform quality checks on all receipted cargo for accuracy against system-generated documents.
  • Complete operational documents with name, signature, date, and time stamp.
  • Assist other departments when your area is not busy.
  • Store hazardous materials according to compatibility charts.
  • Package inbound materials to prevent damage during transit/storage.
  • Identify and quarantine expired stock and report to quality control.
  • Investigate and resolve all stock queries promptly.

General Duties:

  • Understand and adhere to company SOPs and policies.
  • Report any non-conformances to the Facility Manager.
  • Complete and escalate near-miss reports to management.
  • Participate in BIL Warehousing EC and comply with the OSH Act.
  • Ensure the care of client cargo and company assets at all times.
  • Attend daily/weekly Blue Area Talks (staff meetings).
