Job Opportunity: Warehouse Assistant/Driver – Cape Town

We are seeking a Warehouse Assistant/Driver to join our Cape Town Warehouse team. This role involves managing all stock movements in and out of the warehouse, including order picking, dispatching, deliveries, stock transfers, receiving supplier goods, and conducting stock counts. Accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to quality and safety standards are essential.

Requirements:

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • 5+ years of driving experience
  • In-house training provided
  • Valid Forklift/Stacker license
  • Valid South African Driver’s License
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask
  • High attention to detail and pride in warehouse, vehicle, and equipment upkeep

Key Responsibilities:

Warehouse Operations:

  • Process orders by picking, checking, packing, and dispatching.
  • Manage all stock movements, including receiving goods, handling damaged stock, and processing samples and demo items.
  • Cross-check picking lists against customer purchase orders and verify invoice accuracy.
  • Ensure couriers use correct shipping labels and stock is properly shipped.
  • Perform quality checks on received goods before placing them into inventory.
  • Adhere to Quality Management procedures at all times.

Inventory Control:

  • Conduct daily stock counts and investigate variances (to be completed by 10 AM daily).
  • Manage Macola warehouse transactions, including bin transfers and adjustments.
  • Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies within 48 hours.
  • Maintain accurate warehouse stock records.

Driving Duties:

  • Perform daily deliveries and collections.
  • Complete vehicle checklists, daily trip sheets, and mileage records.
  • Ensure safe handling and transportation of goods, following all Quality Management procedures.

General Warehouse Duties:

  • Load and offload containers and trucks.
  • Prepare and pick stock transfers for the Johannesburg warehouse.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance checks on all equipment.
  • Perform other reasonable tasks as assigned by management.

Interbranch Stock Transfers:

  • Monitor and maintain minimum re-order levels for manufactured stock.
  • Coordinate interbranch stock transfers to maintain optimal stock levels across warehouses.
  • Determine efficient, cost-effective transfer methods.
  • Manage courier relationships and report on costs monthly.

Environmental, Health & Safety Compliance:

  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness and daily housekeeping.
  • Record temperature and humidity readings, reporting any breaches.
  • Enforce health & safety protocols, including proper attire and restricted cellphone use.
  • Report health & safety incidents promptly.
  • Oversee the safe disposal of expired or hazardous stock.

Quality Management:

  • Ensure product quality and safety throughout warehousing processes.
  • Document non-conformances (NCAs) and action requests (ARs) when necessary.
  • Continuously improve processes and policies to align with organizational goals.
  • Implement departmental procedures and ensure compliance.

Training & Development:

  • Conduct skills assessments and submit training plans to HR.
  • Maintain training records.

Salary & Benefits:

  • R9,000 – R11,000 per month
