Introduction
We are looking for a dedicated Van Assistant to support the driver with the loading, delivery, and offloading of goods. The primary objective of this role is to ensure that all deliveries are completed efficiently, safely, and on time. This includes assisting with the physical handling of products and maintaining delivery vehicle standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the driver with completing vehicle safety checks and pre-trip inspections of the truck and equipment before departure
- Help load goods securely into the truck and unload them at the customer’s location in a safe and organized manner
- Ensure proper handling of all products and equipment during loading and delivery
- Verify that the correct items and quantities are delivered to the right customers
- Guide the driver safely when reversing or parking in designated offloading areas
- Assist with post-trip inspections to confirm that all returns, goods, and equipment are properly documented and handed over during debriefing
- Ensure returned equipment, such as pallets, is unloaded and accounted for
- Maintain the cleanliness of the delivery vehicle at all times
Requirements:
- Minimum qualification: Grade 12 (Matric)
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar position
- Physically fit and capable of lifting and carrying medium to heavy items
- Basic literacy and good communication skills
- Knowledge of general health and safety practices
- Reliable, honest, and able to manage customer interactions professionally
- Willingness to assist in resolving delivery issues or complaints when necessary
