Position: Cylinder Truck Driver Assistant
An opportunity has become available within the Packaged Gas division at our Kempton Park branch for a Cylinder Truck Driver Assistant. The primary focus of this role is to ensure full compliance with the Dangerous Goods Transportation Legislation and to help maintain the cylinder delivery fleet in a safe, roadworthy condition at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine inspections of the fleet to assess vehicle condition and ensure safety standards are met.
- Assist in overseeing fleet maintenance tasks, including managing licenses, Certificates of Fitness (COF), and fire permits.
- Ensure all vehicles are properly marked with placard signage in compliance with Dangerous Goods regulations.
- Maintain a clean and orderly working environment, both in vehicles and at the depot.
- Accurately maintain servicing and maintenance records for all fleet vehicles.
- Promote and uphold safety and quality standards in all day-to-day operations.
- Provide professional and courteous service to customers.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric Certificate
- Valid Code EC driver’s license with no endorsements and a valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDPd)
- Dangerous Goods Certificate
- 3–5 years of experience operating heavy-duty vehicles, with specific exposure to transporting dangerous goods
- Mechanically inclined, with an understanding of basic vehicle maintenance
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and general computer literacy
