Duties & Responsibilities
The Head Storeman plays a critical role in overseeing the daily operations of the store, ensuring the effective receipt, storage, and distribution of goods and supplies. This position requires strong leadership skills to manage the store team, maintain optimal stock levels, and uphold a high standard of cleanliness and organization within storage areas. The role also involves close coordination with the purchasing and operations teams to ensure seamless supply chain management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Supervision & Training: Oversee and train store staff, ensuring compliance with established procedures and high standards of safety, efficiency, and organization.
- Stock Management: Monitor inventory levels, conduct regular stock counts, and resolve discrepancies to ensure adequate supply without overstocking or shortages.
- Goods Receipt & Verification: Manage the receipt and storage of goods, ensuring they align with purchase orders, delivery notes, and agreed quantities. Reject any damaged, incorrect, or substandard items.
- Stock Issuance & Distribution: Facilitate the timely and accurate distribution of stock to various hotel outlets based on requisitions, ensuring proper documentation for all transactions.
- Inventory Control & Rotation: Implement and maintain the first-in, first-out (FIFO) inventory system, ensuring products are used before their expiration dates.
- Storage & Hygiene Compliance: Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization in storage areas, adhering to health and safety regulations, particularly concerning perishable items.
- Record-Keeping & Documentation: Ensure accurate recording of all incoming and outgoing goods, including invoices, requisition forms, and stock logs. Submit all necessary paperwork to the store administrator for processing.
- Collaboration with Procurement: Work closely with the purchasing team to order and receive goods, ensuring timely restocking of essential supplies.
- Issue Reporting: Inform the Purchasing Manager of any stock shortages, unavailable items, or issues related to received goods.
- Stock Delivery & Transport: Deliver stock as per requisitions to designated outlets and maintain proper documentation for each transaction.

- Education: Matric qualification (Essential).
- Language: English proficiency (Essential).
- Technology: Computer literacy, including MS Office (Essential).
