Introduction
This role supports the Head of Financial Accounting manage the unit’s daily operations and financial reporting. Responsibilities include aiding in budget and forecast preparation, maintaining internal control policies, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare audit files.
- Record, process, and update investment transactions for monthly reporting.
- Consolidate fund managers’ reports to update the company’s investment position monthly.
- Record, process, and update insurance contract liabilities and assets.
- Review payment requisitions and authorize payments through the banking system.
- Review and approve supplier invoices.
- Reconcile bank statements and monitor cash flows.
- Prepare and/or file VAT201 returns.
- Post and review journal entries.
- Liaise with internal and external auditors.
- Analyze and report budget variances.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
- Contribute to the development of corporate annual financial statements.
- Develop and implement best practices, systems, and procedures to support business goals.
- Handle ad hoc assignments as directed by the Head of Finance or CFO.
- Inform the Head of any significant or unusual financial circumstances affecting the corporation.
Desired Experience & Qualifications
- A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Auditing, or Finance is essential.
- A minimum of 3 years’ post-article experience in a supervisory finance role, preferably in the financial or insurance industry.
- Advanced IT skills, including proficiency in Excel and accounting systems like AX Microsoft Dynamics or similar.
