Job Title: Driver – Heavy Motor Vehicle
Location: Kempton Park
Purpose of the Position
We are seeking a qualified Driver with a ‘heavy’ or ‘public service vehicle’ license to join our team at the Kempton Park site. The Driver will be responsible for operating heavy motor vehicles (excluding those with a gross vehicle weight of up to 15,000 kg) to transport goods to and from various locations. This role includes maintaining records of deliveries and collections, as well as performing routine vehicle maintenance and cleaning.
Responsibilities
- Assist and supervise the loading of the delivery vehicle.
- Verify that all loaded goods match the Delivery Notes and sign for acceptance.
- Check goods against the Delivery Note during offloading with the customer and ensure the customer signs the copy as Proof of Delivery.
- Collect returns as listed on a Goods Return Voucher (GRV) when required.
- Return all goods and GRVs to the Depot/Stores/Despatch Supervisor upon returning to the warehouse.
- Conduct daily and weekly vehicle checks as per the Company’s Vehicle Checklist, completing the checklist and highlighting any issues before leaving the warehouse.
- Maintain the vehicle in a clean and roadworthy condition at all times, promptly reporting any defects or suspected defects to the Depot/Stores/Despatch Supervisor.
Requirements
- Grade 12 (essential)
- Valid Driver’s License Code 10 (essential)
- Strong interpersonal skills
- At least 2 years of experience as a delivery assistant (essential)
