Full Job Description

Purpose

The Facility General Assistant ensures that the site facilities, including gardens and grounds, are consistently tidy and well-kept, reflecting the Aurum brand positively.

Duties

Facility Management

  • Support the Corporate Operations Manager (Site Operations Manager) with all facility-related tasks.
  • Assist with landscaping projects.
  • Maintain the garden and grounds, including garden furniture and umbrellas.
  • Clean entrance areas, patios, walkways, driveways, and basements.
  • Maintain and clean the pond.
  • Prune plants, bushes, shrubs, and trees.
  • Keep walkways and garden edges neat and tidy.
  • Regularly mow the lawn and use a weed eater to maintain the grounds.
  • Divide and transplant plants as needed.
  • Weed gardens and lawns.
  • Remove weeds from paving.
  • Plant new plants and seedlings.
  • Ensure plants are adequately watered.
  • Install and maintain garden irrigation systems.
  • Clean and maintain garden equipment and tools.
  • Ensure birds (peacocks) and animals (feral cats) have shelter, fresh water, and food.
  • Report maintenance issues to the Corporate Operations Manager.
  • Assist with general maintenance and repairs as needed.

Fleet Management

  • Support tasks as outlined in the Fleet Management Policy and Standard Operating Procedures, including cleaning vehicles when required.

Asset Management

  • Support tasks as outlined in the Asset Management Policy and Standard Operating Procedures, including moving furniture and equipment when needed.

Supply Chain Management

  • Support tasks as outlined in the Supply Chain Management Policy and Standard Operating Procedures, including packing and unpacking stock as received or dispatched.

Records Management

  • Support tasks as outlined in the Records Management Policy and Standard Operating Procedures, including packing and unpacking paper records as received or dispatched.

Policies and Standard Operating Procedures

  • Adhere to all departmental and company policies, standard operating procedures, working practice guidelines, and How-to Guides.
  • Write and review working practice guidelines and how-to manuals annually.
  • Comply with all health and safety policies, practices, and procedures as prescribed by legislation.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Technical Work Responsibilities

  • Maintain gardens and grounds.
  • Clean site vehicles.
  • Manage site assets (garden equipment and tools).
  • Manage stock (garden consumables).
  • Support the movement of paper records.

Education

  • Grade 12
