Job Overview
Phakisa Holdings is looking for an experienced Code 14 (Tautliner) Driver to join their team in Wadeville. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently while ensuring compliance with traffic laws, company policies, and health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a Code 14 truck with a Tautliner trailer safely and in accordance with road regulations.
- Transport goods between locations, including loading and unloading as required.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety.
- Perform regular maintenance checks and report any defects or damages.
- Maintain accurate records such as logbooks, delivery notes, and vehicle inspection reports.
- Secure loads properly to prevent damage and ensure safe transportation.
- Communicate with dispatch teams for efficient scheduling and deliveries.
- Report accidents, incidents, or traffic violations as per company policies.
- Provide excellent customer service when interacting with clients and the public.
Requirements
✔ Valid Code 14 driver’s license (EC or equivalent)
✔ Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Code 14 driver
✔ Valid PDP (Professional Driving Permit)
✔ Experience with Tautliner trailers and knowledge of loading/unloading procedures
✔ Strong understanding of road safety regulations and traffic laws
✔ Proven track record of safe driving
✔ Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
✔ Physically fit for manual tasks like loading and unloading
✔ Matric/Grade 12 qualification (preferred)
✔ Strong communication and customer service skills
