Role Overview:
The Administrative Officer will be responsible for financial and administrative support within the Financial Planning function, ensuring efficiency in financial operations and compliance with institutional policies.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Administration & Support
- Oversee procurement, order processing, payments, bursary management, and petty cash.
- Manage asset administration within the research and innovation environment.
2. Financial Month-End Control & Monitoring
- Conduct month-end financial reviews, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Reconcile accounts, validate transactions, and prepare financial reports for decision-making.
3. Research & Innovation Support
- Provide administrative and operational support to research initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with funding and institutional requirements.
- Assist in project coordination and stakeholder collaboration.
4. Project Administration Support
- Manage project documentation, budget tracking, and deliverables.
- Maintain institutional and funding compliance for research projects.
- Facilitate communication among project stakeholders.
5. Administrative Support to Deputy Dean (Research & Innovation)
- Manage schedules, meetings, documentation, and records for the Deputy Dean.
- Ensure efficient project timelines and compliance monitoring.
- Assist with reporting and correspondence.
Minimum Requirements:
📌 Diploma in Financial Management or Administration (NQF Level 6)
📌 At least 2 years of experience using:
- Kuali financial system
- NWU administrative systems
Key Competencies & Skills:
✅ Technical & Functional Skills:
- Proficiency in Kuali financial system & NWU administrative platforms.
- Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
✅ Behavioral Competencies:
- Excellent interpersonal skills to engage with staff, students, and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and financial accuracy.
Remuneration:
💰 The total annual remuneration package will be aligned with NWU policy guidelines and the advertised position level.
