Full Job Description

Role Overview: Provide excellent customer service within the store, manage stock loading and merchandising, maintain shelf price labeling, and uphold cleanliness in your assigned area.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 or at least one year of relevant work experience
  • Proficiency in English and the dominant local language
  • Basic arithmetic skills
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
  • Ability to work under pressure

Responsibilities:

Customer Service:

  • Greet and assess customer needs.
  • Provide accurate product advice.
  • Address product inquiries and handle complaints promptly.
  • Promote additional sales (e.g., suggesting paint brushes with paint).
  • Ensure timely loading of customer purchases.
  • Handle customer purchases with care to avoid damage.
  • Inform customers about additional services:
    • Delivery services / bulk deposits
    • Glass cutting
    • Plan reading
    • Credit programs
    • Special orders
    • Trusses
    • Distant ordering
    • VIC Customer Program
  • Maintain product knowledge certification.
  • Be present in your assigned aisle to assist customers.

Housekeeping:

  • Keep your area free from obstacles and ensure stock is promptly merchandised.
  • Maintain accurate shelf price labeling in your area.
  • Complete checklists for canteen and toilet/shower schedules as required.

Safety (OHSA) Requirements:

  • Comply with OHSA regulations (e.g., use of safety gear, ensure customer and staff safety).
  • Ensure the safe merchandising of stock in your area.
  • Report any discrepancies to the Store Manager.

Ready for Business:

  • Follow the “Ready for Business” and “Beyond My Control” protocols as outlined by the CB Way.

Loss Prevention and Security:

  • Identify and investigate gaps in displays, reporting concerns to management.
  • Remain vigilant of suspicious behavior and report to management.
  • Ensure no product is loaded for customers without proof of purchase or required documentation.
