Full Job Description

Main Purpose

Ensure exceptional delivery of Rectron goods and equipment to customers, according to a specific schedule, in an efficient and timely manner.

Education/Qualification

  • Matric or higher education
  • Valid and current driver’s license with no infringements
  • Valid PDP at all times

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a driver

Job Dimensions

Driver Maintenance & Safety

  • Promptly escalate issues to the supervisor to find solutions.
  • Provide excellent customer service by being courteous at all times.
  • Obtain accurate signed PODs from deliveries and hand them over to the supervisor promptly.
  • Communicate maintenance and licensing issues to your Line Manager.
  • Report any infringement, accident, service notice, loss or damage of stock, hijacking, or other important issues to your supervisor immediately.
  • Adhere to driving rules and regulations at all times.
  • Maintain Rectron standards of excellence in daily duties.
  • Assist with other job-related duties as required by your Line Manager.
  • Perform general administration, scanning of PODs/invoices into the Microfile System.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and general housekeeping.
  • Safeguard the company-issued cellular phone and ensure no unauthorized use.
  • Inform the supervisor if unable to complete the set deliveries for the day.

Vehicle Maintenance

  • Report any damage or accidents to the Delivery Supervisor immediately.
  • Notify the Deliveries Supervisor of needed tyre or windscreen repairs.
  • Inform the Deliveries Supervisor of service needs every 10,000 km.
  • Notify the Deliveries Supervisor of tyre rotation needs every 5,000 km.
  • Ensure every vehicle has a spare tyre and jack.
  • Ensure every vehicle has a fire extinguisher.
  • Report all accidents to the nearest Police station within 24 hours, obtain details from all parties involved, and report these details to the Delivery Supervisor.

Key Performance Indicators

Driving

  • Provide excellent customer service by being courteous at all times.
  • Maintain Rectron standards of excellence in daily duties.
  • Ensure correct orders and quantity of boxes are taken from the vehicle at the delivery point.
  • Ensure the customer signs and writes their name legibly on the invoice or POD.
  • For end-user deliveries, ensure the receiving person matches the details on the POD and do not release the invoice to the end user.
  • Perform a pre-trip safety check on the vehicle according to the Motor Vehicle Daily Inspection checklist upon arriving at work.

Reporting

  • Report any damage or accidents to the Delivery Supervisor immediately.
  • Inform the Deliveries Supervisor of needed services every 10,000 km.
  • Immediately report any infringement, accident, service notice, loss or damage of stock, hijacking, or other important issues to the supervisor.

Operations

  • Ensure accurate and timely delivery of orders, verifying all orders with the customer for accuracy.

Training

  • Recommended: Anti Hijack Training
  • Advanced Driving Skills training
