Job Purpose
To provide a professional, efficient, and effective driving and delivery service to support the overall functioning of the organization.
Responsibilities
Driver Duties:
- Communicate delivery delays or non-deliveries to the appropriate salesperson via email and integrate these updates into the work schedule and daily activities.
- Liaise with sales regarding correct end-user contact numbers.
- Ensure compliance with traffic regulations and avoid speeding fines or other contraventions.
- Maintain professional, courteous, and friendly conduct on the roads at all times.
- Interface professionally, courteously, and friendly with visitors and clients at all times.
- Make timely deliveries and record them in a trip sheet.
- Maintain the vehicle in a clean, neat, and presentable condition on a weekly basis as instructed.
- Keep the vehicle logbook up to date.
- Check vehicles before each use according to the vehicle checklist and report any damage or concerns immediately.
- Call and arrange with all POD customers.
- Plan delivery runs and complete the delivery schedule.
- Work with the sharing driver to split and set out the daily run.
- Carry out urgent collections and deliveries when instructed.
- Perform special deliveries and collections as instructed.
- Collaborate with the co-driver when loading the vehicle in dispatch and unloading it at customers’ locations.
- Read and respond to emails.
- Hand over daily paperwork to accounts.
Qualifications and Experience
- Matric
- Valid Code 10 Driver’s License with PDP
- 5 years of experience as a driver in a corporate environment
Skills and Knowledge
- Basic knowledge of general administrative processes
- Good understanding of organizational structure
- Familiarity with facility layout
- Good knowledge of routes, related business places, and localities
- Effective communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Valid Code 08 Driver’s License
- Excellent driving skills
