Job Purpose

We’re looking for a Utilities Operator who can operate and monitor utility equipment and systems in a safe, efficient manner—supporting production and operational goals. You’ll be responsible for adjusting machinery, maintaining high-quality output, minimizing costs, and performing basic repairs and maintenance. This role is essential in ensuring uninterrupted utility services at our site.


Key Responsibilities

  • Operate utility equipment and systems to support plant operations.
  • Carry out routine maintenance and basic equipment repairs.
  • Conduct safety inspections and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Monitor and adjust utility processes for optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve utility system issues to avoid downtime.
  • Perform regular inspections, testing, and calibrations.
  • Track and log utility data such as pressure, temperature, and energy use.
  • Maintain accurate records in line with regulations and internal standards.
  • Work closely with other teams during shutdowns, repairs, and upgrades.
  • Train and support fellow team members in utilities operation.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

Education & Experience:

  • Matric certificate
  • N5 qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Previous experience in a utilities role within manufacturing or industrial settings
  • Knowledge of OSHA and relevant compliance standards
  • Physically fit, with ability to work in high-temperature, confined, or elevated environments

Skills:

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Keen attention to detail and accurate record-keeping
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals and diagrams
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
