Job Purpose
We’re looking for a Utilities Operator who can operate and monitor utility equipment and systems in a safe, efficient manner—supporting production and operational goals. You’ll be responsible for adjusting machinery, maintaining high-quality output, minimizing costs, and performing basic repairs and maintenance. This role is essential in ensuring uninterrupted utility services at our site.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate utility equipment and systems to support plant operations.
- Carry out routine maintenance and basic equipment repairs.
- Conduct safety inspections and adhere to safety protocols.
- Monitor and adjust utility processes for optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve utility system issues to avoid downtime.
- Perform regular inspections, testing, and calibrations.
- Track and log utility data such as pressure, temperature, and energy use.
- Maintain accurate records in line with regulations and internal standards.
- Work closely with other teams during shutdowns, repairs, and upgrades.
- Train and support fellow team members in utilities operation.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
Education & Experience:
- Matric certificate
- N5 qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Previous experience in a utilities role within manufacturing or industrial settings
- Knowledge of OSHA and relevant compliance standards
- Physically fit, with ability to work in high-temperature, confined, or elevated environments
Skills:
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Keen attention to detail and accurate record-keeping
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals and diagrams
- Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
