Full Job Description:
Starke Ayres, a leading African specialist and global supplier of premium vegetable, flower, and lawn seed varieties for both commercial and home garden planting, has an available position for a General Worker based in Kempton Park. The purpose of this role is to assist with the packing of different seed varieties and lots according to company Standard Operating Procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Receive seed lots for packing and confirm the correct type of packing.
- Check and verify quantities, kinds, varieties, and lot numbers of seed received for packing against the information supplied on the relevant job card.
- Accurately weigh/check weigh containers according to prescribed procedures after application.
- Close and label containers/bags of processed/packed seed according to prescribed procedures.
- Stack/pack containers/bags with processed/packed seed according to prescribed procedures.
- Assist with sealing (when applicable) of processed/packed seed according to prescribed procedures.
- Operate the treatment equipment after appropriate settings have been finalized by the supervisor.
- Clean the relevant equipment before and after use.
- Maintain high levels of hygiene surrounding the work area.
- Present job card to the supervisor for approval and sign-off before forwarding to the next step in the process.
- Follow all work instructions, procedures, and Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures for all operations.
- Undertake all other reasonable tasks allocated by the supervisor and/or superiors as requested.
Requirements:
- Grade 12 (essential)
- Previous general worker experience (advantageous)
