We’re seeking a Receiving General Assistant to support our inbound warehouse operations. In this role, you’ll be responsible for physically verifying incoming stock by comparing the received quantities to what’s reflected on the system. Your contribution will be essential to ensuring a smooth distribution process. You’ll report directly to the Inbound Supervisor or Clerk, as well as the Inbound Manager, and must be available to work varied shifts across both trading and non-trading hours—including Sundays and Public Holidays.
Key Responsibilities
Below are the main duties you’ll be expected to carry out:
- Offload goods, operating a forklift when required
- Verify physical quantities against delivery documentation and purchase orders
- Inspect goods visually for any damage or inconsistencies
- Perform food safety temperature checks for refrigerated items, in line with the FSMS guidelines
- Report any discrepancies immediately
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working area
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with your team and supervisors
- Comply with all operational procedures, rules, and quality standards
- Perform heavy lifting and move goods as needed
- Develop and maintain product knowledge to support accurate handling and packing
- Monitor and report inventory shortages or damage
- Use a scanner to record inventory movements accurately
Minimum Requirements
To be considered, candidates must meet the following:
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate
- Prior experience in a Receiving or General Assistant role
- Live within a 25km radius of the workplace
- Clear criminal record
Preferred Attributes
These are not mandatory but will be advantageous:
- South African citizenship
- At least 1 year of experience as a picker or checker in a warehouse environment
