Introduction:
Our client, a prominent Hospitality group, is actively searching for a proactive and seasoned Financial Accountant. The Financial Manager role involves providing financial management and advice to stakeholders in the operating (OPCO) and property (PROPCO) companies. This position plays a pivotal role in planning, managing, and controlling all financial activities within OPCO and PROPCO, ensuring compliance with company policy and statutory regulations.
Additionally, the role assists the Reporting and Compliance Officer in maintaining group-wide compliance with laws and regulations, and supports property asset management functions, including valuations and permanent file maintenance. Candidates must be based in the Western Cape and possess finance experience within the Hospitality sector.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Operations:
- Verify and release electronic bank payments.
- Identify and transfer excess funds in OPCO and PROPCO to bond or Nedcredit facilities weekly.
- Maintain sufficient funds in the current account for timely release of loaded payments.
- Ensure the integrity and maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register.
- Implement procedures for the safekeeping of assets.
- Adhere to project management protocols.
- Review Debtors Age analysis monthly and highlight issues.
- Monitor long-term tenant payment status for property apartments and communicate outstanding rentals to the CFO.
- Prepare customer invoices, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in the monthly billing cycle.
- Follow up on outstanding Debtors as part of the monthly review process.
- Compile annual budgets and submit for CFO approval.
- Review budgeted fees and expenses for large variances and address them before CFO review.
- Prepare forecasts (Rolling estimate) for the rest of the financial year.
- Compile Annual Audit files as per Group Instructions.
- Prepare the monthly Balance Sheet reconciliation file to ensure integrity of financial statement line items.
- Investigate and respond to audit queries, ensuring timely completion of the audit.
Assist the Reporting and Compliance Officer with:
- Registration and maintenance with government bodies and regulators.
- Statutory record keeping and submissions.
- EEA and BBBEE submissions.
- Keeping compliance files of all OPCOs up to date.
- Ensuring compliance with Companies Act, POPI Act, VAT, and Income Tax Act.
Manage:
- Oversee team performance to deliver the approved finance strategy across designated departments.
- Provide regular, comprehensive, and constructive feedback to the team and conduct performance appraisals.
- Adjust management style to maximize team effectiveness.
- Delegate work to team members considering their capacity, skill level, and exposure to different types of work.
Human Resources:
- Maintain strong working relationships and transparent communication within the team.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external vendors to ensure high-quality service delivery.
General:
- Support the business with ad-hoc financial requests, providing accurate and high-quality information within required timeframes.
Desired Experience & Qualification:
Qualifications:
- BCom Accounting degree or diploma.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Accounting or Finance; management experience is beneficial.
- Essential experience in the Hospitality & Tourism Industry.
- Advanced MS Office knowledge.
- Advanced knowledge of Financial Accounting Systems (SAGE Partner or Evolution).
