Job Description
Responsibilities at the UJ Island:
- Provide safe and reliable transport services to and from the island.
- Alternate between entry and exit on the island, including game drives and routine transportation.
- Assist external guests and handle general maintenance and island logistics.
- Welcome guests and transport their luggage to and from rooms.
- Address any issues that arise during the night, including relocating guests if necessary.
- Ensure safe evacuation of guests in case of emergencies.
- Collect and dispose of grass, rubble, and tree trimmings.
- Use prescribed safety equipment and protective clothing.
- Conduct regular vehicle inspections and report any defects immediately.
- Transport machines or equipment to and from the island as needed.
- Perform any other general duties required on the island.
- Maintain health, safety, and environmental standards in the workplace.
Health and Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to OHS rules as prescribed by the university.
- Report damages and unsafe equipment or clothing.
- Ensure vehicle maintenance complies with standards.
UJ Policy:
- Work within UJ policies and guidelines.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (NQF 4)
- Three (3) years of experience in the field
- Valid Code 10 driver’s license with PDP for people and goods
- Valid boat driver’s license (Skipper license)
- One year of experience in the hospitality environment
