Purpose of the Role

This role focuses on minimizing bad debt, enhancing profitability, and mitigating risk for Capitec Business Bank (CBB) and Capitec Rental Finance (CRF) through:

  • Analysing, monitoring, and reporting on book segmentation, tactical strategies, and campaigns (calls/digital) related to pre-delinquent, collections, and recoveries.
  • Tracking book trends, including arrears, excesses, risk grade changes, downgrades, write-offs, and provisions.
  • Identifying and monitoring high-risk portfolios, clients, and industries in distress.
  • Contributing to the design, implementation, and monitoring of risk management solutions (systems, policies, procedures, and processes).
  • Conducting case studies and root cause analysis on pre-delinquent and non-performing loans.
  • Following up on arrears management, monitoring, and control as required.

Experience Required

Minimum:

  • 2–3 years of experience in collections, recoveries, credit risk, or operational risk management.
  • Experience in data reporting and monitoring.
  • Credit and business analysis experience, with the ability to influence processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Case study and root cause analysis expertise.
  • Consumer and complaint resolution experience.

Ideal:

  • 3+ years in credit risk management or ongoing risk management.
  • Drafting business processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Project coordination and relationship management.
  • Process efficiency improvements, including drafting business specifications.
  • Experience in credit granting, collections, recoveries, and judgmental credit within financial services.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Higher Certificate in Credit Management or Banking.

Preferred:

  • National Diploma in Financial Accounting or Banking.

Knowledge & Skills

Essential Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of credit, corporate legislation, and banking industry practices.
  • Collections and recoveries systems and processes.
  • Knowledge of the National Credit Act (NCA).
  • Experience with retail and business credit products (fixed-term loans and credit facilities).
  • Reporting and data analytics.

Ideal Knowledge:

  • Credit risk management throughout the credit lifecycle.
  • Understanding of collateral types and processes.
  • Compliance knowledge: POPI Act, Debt Collectors Act (DCA), Capitec’s Credit Policies.
  • Familiarity with Capitec Bank’s banking systems (Front-End and Back-End).
  • SQL programming and database structures.
  • Relationship-building and stakeholder management techniques.

Key Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Computer literacy (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook).
  • Strong numerical reasoning skills.
