Description:
The incumbent will be tasked with the following responsibilities, among others:
- Conducting pre-employment driving assessments as part of the recruitment process.
- Providing comprehensive training to new drivers on various onboard equipment such as Roro systems, Skip systems, trailers, and Truck-mounted cranes.
- Inducting newly appointed drivers on the company’s driver policy and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Performing annual driver assessments and delivering feedback to management in a structured report format.
- Maintaining meticulous records of all conducted assessments.
- Educating newly appointed drivers on designated routes, customer requirements, and procedural protocols.
- Training new drivers on the completion of company paperwork to ensure adherence to organizational standards.
- Equipping new drivers with the knowledge to conduct vehicle inspections in compliance with safety regulations and to prevent vehicular breakdowns.
- Providing training and evaluations for existing drivers on a rotational basis or as needed.
- Adhering strictly to the regulations outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act, company policies, and road regulations.
Position Requirements:
- Possession of a valid code 14 driver’s license with a valid Professional Driving Permit (PRDP).
- Holding a Professional Driving national certificate and registered assessor status.
- Proficiency in report writing.
- Comprehensive understanding of the National Road Traffic Act.
- Proficiency in computer operations, including the full Microsoft suite.
- 3-5 years of experience in a training environment.
- Possession of a dangerous goods license is advantageous.
- Demonstrating motivation and a career-oriented mindset.
- Excellent communication skills in English (speaking, reading, and writing).
- Willingness to work overtime as required.
- Maintaining good health and a practical, hands-on approach to tasks.
