The incumbent will be tasked with the following responsibilities, among others:

  • Conducting pre-employment driving assessments as part of the recruitment process.
  • Providing comprehensive training to new drivers on various onboard equipment such as Roro systems, Skip systems, trailers, and Truck-mounted cranes.
  • Inducting newly appointed drivers on the company’s driver policy and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Performing annual driver assessments and delivering feedback to management in a structured report format.
  • Maintaining meticulous records of all conducted assessments.
  • Educating newly appointed drivers on designated routes, customer requirements, and procedural protocols.
  • Training new drivers on the completion of company paperwork to ensure adherence to organizational standards.
  • Equipping new drivers with the knowledge to conduct vehicle inspections in compliance with safety regulations and to prevent vehicular breakdowns.
  • Providing training and evaluations for existing drivers on a rotational basis or as needed.
  • Adhering strictly to the regulations outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act, company policies, and road regulations.

Position Requirements:

  • Possession of a valid code 14 driver’s license with a valid Professional Driving Permit (PRDP).
  • Holding a Professional Driving national certificate and registered assessor status.
  • Proficiency in report writing.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the National Road Traffic Act.
  • Proficiency in computer operations, including the full Microsoft suite.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a training environment.
  • Possession of a dangerous goods license is advantageous.
  • Demonstrating motivation and a career-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (speaking, reading, and writing).
  • Willingness to work overtime as required.
  • Maintaining good health and a practical, hands-on approach to tasks.
  • Exemplifying sober habits.
