This challenging opportunity within the dynamic environment of an established firm of Chartered Accountants and Auditors entails the management of a team of SAIPA trainee accountants, reviewing their work, and engaging with clients. The incumbent will actively participate in advising, mentoring, and leading the accounting team, consisting of 5 to 8 trainee accountants. Positioned at the middle management level, reporting to the Partner/Director, the role requires an applicant of unwavering integrity with excellent communication and leadership skills, ensuring the professional standing of the firm.
Duties & Responsibilities: The successful applicant will be tasked with the following key result areas:
• Performing bookkeeping to trial balance and monthly reconciliation.
• Handling the submission and completion of statutory returns (VAT, PAYE, STC, DWT, and IWT). • Submitting tax returns via E-Filing (IT14 and IT14SD).
• Calculating and submitting Provincial tax returns.
• Conducting PAYE reconciliations via Easy File and E-Filing.
• Preparing financial statements according to IFRS for SME’s – Companies/Close Corporations/Trusts/Individuals.
• Implementing financial controls to minimize business risk.
• Calculating tax liability for Companies/Close Corporations/Trusts/Individuals.
• Reviewing small and medium-sized private companies.
• Managing statements and accounts.
• Conducting various reconciliations (Debtors and Creditors).
• Handling stock/inventory reconciliations.
• Addressing SARS-related queries.
• Preparing fees, budgets, and quotations.
• Reviewing independent review files.
• Managing independent review teams and communicating with clients.
• Achieving team and individual budgets and business performance objectives.
• Formulating professional development and educational plans for junior staff members (Trainees assigned and rotated throughout a year).
• Conducting bi-annual merit evaluations for Trainees.
Desired Experience & Qualification: Inherent job requirements include:
• Strong technical knowledge and skills.
• Good communication and interactive skills – proficiency in Afrikaans as a first language is essential.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Effective time management skills.
• A SAIPA accredited degree.
• Completed SAIPA articles.
A valid driver’s license is a fundamental requirement of the position due to the involvement of travel to clients.
Package & Remuneration:
- R25,000 to R30,000 CTC.
- Annual bonus dependent on performance.
- Access to a hybrid working policy after 3 months of employment: 3 days in the office, 2 days working from home.
