Job Overview:
- Prepare and maintain accounting documents and records.
- Post entries to the general ledger and prepare financial statements.
- Timely reconciliation of accounts.
- Assist and support company personnel as needed.
- Investigate, track, and resolve accounting or documentation issues and discrepancies.
- Report to superiors and provide summaries of activities.
- Ensure compliance with established standards, procedures, and laws.
- Continuously update knowledge related to the job.
- Oversee team workload through the Finance Manager for approvals and related matters.
- Provide accurate monthly reports for management review.
- Process and verify financial data to align with IFRS and accurately reflect the company’s financial status.
- Assist with auditor files and processes, providing necessary information for year-end audits.
- Serve as a mentor, coach, and role model, leading by example.
- Act as the initial approver for leave requests.
- Identify and remove barriers that hinder efficiency or effectiveness.
- Support team members in achieving team goals.
- Participate in interviews when needed.
- Communicate and coordinate the financial reporting process with staff at all levels.
- Address internal and client queries, aiding Line Managers in resolving them.
Requirements:
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
- Completed Articles or in the final year of studies with relevant work experience.
- 1-3 years of post-article accounting experience (essential).
- Experience in financial data analysis and report preparation.
- Familiarity with account finalization as per South African regulations.
- Experience with accounting software (advantageous).
- Willingness to work extended hours when required.
- Strong knowledge of Finance, Accounting, and Cost Control principles, including IFRS.
- Familiarity with automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
- Knowledge of financial regulations and relevant theoretical principles.
- Advanced PC literacy (Microsoft) (essential).
- Strong presentation skills and financial acumen.
- Ability to solve complex problems and make effective decisions.
- Capable of multitasking in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
